Meeting!

I have a pretty important dinner meeting today that I am really looking forward to. I'm working on trying to teach my own zine workshop. I love zines so much I would like to teach others how to get involved. Do you make zines? Do you have any tips for a zine maker?
Remember that to-do list I made a while back? I'm finally tackling it. I have promised myself that 2011 will be my year.
In unrelated news this is a photo of a cubby in my bookshelf. Lately I've been really into crystals and geodes so I have started a small collection. And you can't have crystals without dinosaurs walking around. The wooden block on the left was made by Michele Bosak. The cylindrical object on the right is a handmade kaleidoscope made by Joanna Goss and Don Picton. The pink horse is made by Jane Ryder. My good friend Janey decorated the house box. Mother nature created all the rocks and crystals. The dinosaur has mysterious origins. It's a pretty exciting shelf!

New Work

Nice Hat was just added to the fundraising website here. Thank you, Jane Ryder, for this lovely print!
Besides working on this website I've been working in my brand new studio. Here are some images of what I've been working on. I just bought a pad of vellum paper and I've been trying to create little imaginative landscapes that are lush and colorful and water. I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate my ghost girls in to them. Any feedback? Thanks!

Jane at Flux Biota surprised me this morning with a very sweet write-up on my work. I think she spoke about my work better than I've ever been able to. You can see it here.

For Your Tuesdays

This morning I had to take my car into the shop for some repairs. It was only about a quarter mile from my house so I walked home. Other than some wind the weather seems pretty nice outside, pretty mild. Makes me hopeful for Spring to get here.
On my walk I got to come up close and personal to something that I love seeing from my car. When my friend Jane Ryder graduated and prepared to move away she took all of her woodblocks and nailed them to various trees around the town. It's a fun game to find Jane's woodblocks. It almost feels like letterboxing. I suppose I could ink this up on the tree and stick some paper to them for a stamp. Or do a rubbing like people do at cemeteries. If you live in this area keep your eyes open for some of these great blocks.
I still have two free prints left for the first two customers who purchase something in my shop for ten dollars or more. The money goes to the good cause of helping me get my thesis show made.
Don't forget to check the blog mash-up schedule today!

This Weekend.

I had such a good weekend! My good friend Jane came to town Saturday night and it was a lot of fun catching up with her. If you haven't checked out her blog before please do. Also, do you want to see some of her amazing artwork? Check it out at her website, here.

So it was nice seeing Jane and it was nice taking a long overdue break from the studio. I've spent long days in there listening to countless episodes of Radiolab, drawing, gluing, thinking, hula hooping and trying not to stress too much about my show. A little break was nice but now I'm certainly ready to get back in there and hit the ground running.

Here are a few images of what I've been doing. I wish I could put these houses in my etsy shop. I will as soon as my show is over. I think they are fun. I want to make more and more and more...

Here is what my studio desk is looking like these days, a little messy, but obviously in major use.
