Boo!

I love how my love of scary ghosties means everyone's looking out for me and letting me know when they spot one. Carrie (who is a super talented artist and we need to talk about her work here very very soon) posted this on my facebook wall and my little heart was all atremble. It's a fantastic song with an even more fantastic video. Watch and enjoy and don't be scared of those scary scary sheet ghosts.

What to do...

DSCF6466
I'm sort of thinking about making this image the postcard from my show but I'm also wondering if I should use a piece of my artwork. I don't know what to do and I need to do it soon soon soon. What do you think?

Also! Last time to mention my giveaway! Go sign up for a chance to win a framed drawing of a little ghost. Maria-Therese says he looks confused. Probably wondering why I keep talking about him. Monday I will draw the name for a winner! Thanks for all the music!

Have a great weekend. Hopefully it will be sunny where you live.

Giveaway!!

I am the absolute world's worst at taking pictures and editing them. So... what do I do? Take the same picture twice and edit them both poorly(?) and hope two wrongs make a right...
This framed drawing is here for the giveaway! I'm so thankful for all my readers and I think it's definitely time for another giveaway. What do you do? Leave a comment and recommend some good music. A band, song, anything. Also, if you re-post this giveaway leave another comment saying you did so. This giveaway will go to next Monday, March 29.
This is in a 10" x 10" white shadowbox frame. It is a mixed media piece with some pastels and and screenprinted collaged paper in the top right. The ghost was created on a manilla envelope and also collaged on. I hope you like it!

Lets Pretend It's Thursday

It's half an hour away from being Thursday but I'm procrastinating right now because I have a project due tomorrow and in typical me fashion I'm doing anything but the assignment. So, I know it's still Etsy Feature Wednesday but lets pretend now that it's Ann's Art Feature Thursday! or Thirsty Thursday! If you're reading this on Thursday or any day after then, no problem!
I said many blogs ago that I would post more images of my manila envelope art so here's a new one. It's titled Ghostscape: Ladies Marching. You should be able to click on the images to see a larger size. I've had several critiques in the last few days and the envelope art seems to be a hit. I've been a little worried about them, not sure if they are capitol A art. I don't really care if they are or not but since I'm in grad school I feel the pressure to care. But the response to the pieces were good so I'm not going to fret about those things. Pfft. ( :
If you're reading this right now at a quarter to midnight on Wednesday night, Go to sleep soon! Good night!

What's Happening in the Studio

Today is a studio day so I've been taking pictures of what's going on.  On my way to the studio I got sidetracked and stopped at Old Navy and Target.  An hour later and a lot less money later I finally got to where I was going.
The top image is another manilla envelope piece I'm working on.  I'm really conflicted about it because I'm not sure whether it should go on Etsy or if it should be submitted to shows.  It's not finished yet.  I'd like to draw a lot more creatures on it.   We'll see where it is by then.  I have a feeling it may end up on Etsy.
The next two images are one of my desks.  I got organized the other day and took all my markers, pens and pencils and put them in cups on my desk.  I can finally see what I have now!  And the next image is a bunch of monsters.  Are you scared?  I'm going to glue them to grid paper.  It's my goal to have that piece finished by the end of the day.
The last image is the very very beginning of another collage.  I need to start preparing monsters and ghosts for it.
Tomorrow I'm learning how to do pinhole photos.  I'm super excited and have some ideas planned for this new project.  It's going to be spooky.
Hope everyone is having a nice autumn day.   Have a good weekend.

Business Cards and Margaritaville

So I just made business cards for my blog/etsy/email address. I'm not sure if i should have used the image that i chose but i really like it. The image below is what you will see on my cards. What do you think? Spooky?? My friend Anna was my ghost model. She did a great job standing in the heat with wasps everywhere. Best little Ghost Model yet!

Also, I'm suppose to send a shout out to my sister Lynne, my Aunt Kim, Chad and Fun Bobby. They are at a University of Kentucky game and have assured me that while tailgating they will check my blog for updates. In honor of them being drunk at a game (is it football? basketball? lacrosse?) Here's a video Kim shot of us all at a wedding last year in Louisville. This was shot after the reception and sadly a lot of the people in the video are sober. Guess who it is!
"

In non-shout out news I went to Dick Blick today and bought tons of markers and paints. Then I went to IKEA and bought frames. I could spend hours in both of those stores but I was with a group so we had to be quick. It was a fun trip and Darren, Kurt and I sang Girl Talk songs the whole way home. Now I'm going to put my new markers to work and make some art.

Have a good Saturday!
