Here are some photos from my visit. Found lots of inspiration for my artwork there and just some very neat things. If you are in the area you should definitely check out this museum.

On the train there I saw this crushed Silo. It was sort of beautiful.
I can't wait to go to the Shedd Aquarium now. We were going to go today but I opted to spend my day off work in my studio instead. I'm pretty excited about the stuff I'm working on so I felt like the aquarium would have to wait. Have you been to the field museum before? What did you love?

I LOVE Chicago's museums. We used to go for school field trips when I was little. It was quite a shock going from field trips to AMAZING museums to field trips to LBL's Nature Center when I moved. Haha. You'll love the aquarium! The Planetarium and the Museum of Science and Industry are also fantastic!

I love the whale shark on the ceiling (he's gorgeous), the dinosaurs, and the Egyptian artifacts. But I think the one that changed the way I look at life was their Big and Small exhibit during the late 80s. They had a giant dining room table (with giant plates and silverware) so adults could feel/remember what it was like to be a child. They had a jersey from Refrigerator Perry (it was huge!), and to compare with a shirt from Gary Coleman. They showed how far a little tiny flea could jump (14 FEET!) . . . which showed me that tiny things can accomplish incredible things. And they had built a shrinking/growing room, where you were tiny on one side b/c of the high ceilings, and HUGE on the other b/c the floor and ceiling sloped toward each other. Since that visit to the Field Museum, I've always been aware that everyone has a different perspective; and if you change the way you look at things, you can change the way you think about them too. So that is my favorite exhibit of all time. :)
ha, when I was in Yale Factor's life drawing class we hung out at the Field. I sat down for 4 hours and drew the exact same taxidermy piece. Aren't those lil' dik diks cute?
